Statement
My paintings are inspired by the beauty and power of the ocean. In my wave series, I explore the balance between strength and serenity, inviting viewers to feel the rhythm of the sea. I’ve always been fascinated by the ocean’s ever-changing nature, and through my brushwork, I aim to capture its mystery and energy.
Biography
Originally from Sevastopol, Ukraine, Iia Madsen currently lives and works in Skagen, Denmark, a northern town by the sea. Her journey as a painter began early, driven by her passion for self-expression through art. At 17, she moved to Kyiv to study Architecture at the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture, where she refined her skills in classical composition, drawing, and painting.Throughout her career, Iia has participated in numerous group exhibitions and fairs and has sold her work through art galleries in Denmark. In 2023, she had a solo exhibition, “The Sea,” at the Skagen Odde Natur Center, Denmark. Later that year, she attended the Pouch Cove Foundation Residency in Newfoundland, Canada.
